SHILLONG, June 23: The state government on Friday sounded positive that the controversy surrounding the relocation of residents of Harijan Colony from Them Iew Mawlong would be resolved.
“I will not talk much right now as the matter is in the High Court but from the government side we are positive and I am very sure one day we will be able to reach a solution,” Deputy Chief Minister and Chairman of the High-Level Committee on relocation, Prestone Tynsong said.
Just days after the state government submitted before the High Court that Harijan Panchayat Committee (HPC) has agreed, in principle, to the blueprint prepared by the government for relocation, albeit with certain modifications, the committee maintained that they had never agreed to the blueprint in toto and that their stand was misrepresented in the court.
