Senior leader parts ways with NPP

 SHILLONG: In a major blow to the Nationalist People’s Party (NPP) ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, one of its senior leaders, Desang M Sangma, resigned from the party on Friday.

“I am resigning due to unavoidable circumstances,” Sangma said in his resignation letter that was submitted to the NPP State president on Friday.

Sangma’s resignation is a big blow for the NPP, especially its national president, Purno A Sangma, who is seeking to galvanize his tribal-centric party ahead of the Lok Sabha polls scheduled next year.

Desang M Sangma was a two-time former legislator representing the Rongjeng constituency in East Garo Hills District.
