TURA: The Tura Government College Students’ Union (TGCSU) has submitted a memorandum to the Education Minister with a list of its long pending demands aiming for better facilities in the college.
In its memorandum to the Education Minister the union demanded the appointment of a Vice Principal, creation of posts for the Ministerial staff, i.e. two posts of LDA, one post of Chowkidar and Cleaner, 4 posts of Driver, 2 posts each of Peon and Gatekeeper, creation of post for Electrician and Librarian.
The also stressed on the introduction of a new subject like Sociology, Anthropology, Statistics, BCA, BSC-IT, BCOM-IT, BBA, BA-LLB, BSW and Mass Communication, upgradation of the college to Post Graduate level, upgradation of Commerce Department to the Commerce Stream.
The memorandum further mentioned on the appointment of 2 Hostel Wardens and Cooks each for the Boys’ and the Girls’ Hostels, the appointment of a Doctor, 2 Nurses, Sweepersd and Cleaners, the appointment of Teaching Staff in vacant posts, namely for subjects like History, Political Science, English, Commerce, Economics, Zoology and Geography, creation of post for Lecturers in the field of Environmental Studies, appointment of a Lecturer for Computer Application, creation of posts for Lecturers in Commerce Stream and the introduction of Honours in Geography.
On the infrastructure front, the memorandum laid emphasis on speeding up the process of construction of Residential Quarters, the construction of a permanent water tank, Indoor Stadium, speeding up the construction of permanent boundary wall around the college land and gallery of the college playground, appointment of lecturers for the Morning Shift on contractual basis, the stocking of new and more books in the Library, an additional bus for the college, a vehicle for the college Principal and the enhancement and the conduct of more exposure trips for the college students.
