Shillong, July 2: In an effort to combat “extreme levels of data scraping” and “system manipulation”, Elon Musk announced new restrictions on the number of posts Twitter users can read each day. Verified accounts will be temporarily limited to 6,000 posts per day, while unverified accounts will be restricted to 600 posts per day. Furthermore, new unverified accounts will only be able to read 300 posts per day.

“To address extreme levels of data scraping & system manipulation, we’ve applied the following temporary limits: Verified accounts are limited to reading 6000 posts/day, Unverified accounts to 600 posts/day, New unverified accounts to 300/day,” Musk stated on Twitter.

Musk also mentioned that the temporary reading limitation will soon increase to 8,000 posts per day for verified users, 800 posts per day for unverified users, and 400 posts per day for new unverified users. However, he did not provide specific details about when this change would be implemented.

Musk’s tweet followed numerous user complaints about Twitter outages. However, many Twitter users expressed dissatisfaction with his announcement regarding the limited number of posts they can read in a day. One user complained, “I scroll through about 100 posts on my timeline per minute. If he keeps this, it will literally end Twitter.”
