Shillong, July 5: Hyundai Motor, BMW Korea, and three other companies have announced voluntary recalls of over 92,000 vehicles to address faulty components, according to the transport ministry.

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport stated that a total of 92,088 units from 116 different models will be recalled by companies such as Mercedes-Benz Korea, Volkswagen Group Korea, and Stellantis Korea.

Stellantis is a joint venture formed through the merger of US automaker Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV and French automaker PSA Groupe, as reported by Yonhap news agency.

The recall is prompted by various issues, including software problems in the instrumental panel of BMW’s 520i Luxury sedan, software problems in the steering mechanism of Volkswagen’s ID.4 SUV model, and a faulty brake vacuum pump in Hyundai’s Palisade SUV.

Last month, Hyundai Motor, Mercedes-Benz Korea, and five other companies also initiated voluntary recalls, affecting more than 320,000 vehicles due to faulty components. The reasons behind the previous recalls included a faulty safety belt system in Hyundai’s independent brand Genesis’ G80 sedan, software problems in the electronic stability control system in Mercedes-Benz’s S 580 4MATIC sedan, and a faulty fuel tank connection pipe in the Ferrari 296 GTB imported by FMK.
