Tura, July 6: The FKJGP from Nongalbibra in South Garo Hills has filed a complaint against M/S Midas Construction IB, Royal Silver Tower, Ulubari, Guwahati, Assam, a company tasked with the construction of the PMGSY road, connecting Nongalbibra Bridge to Darang Boldak for poorly executing the work.
According to the complaint filed with the South Garo Hills Deputy commissioner, the project which was funded by the Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India was so poorly constructed that the newly constructed road has already started to peel off.
The 10.78 KM stretch of road was sanctioned for an amount of Rs 23,17,70,603/-, the construction of which began in January, 2020 and the same completed in the same month of 2022.
“The work was completed on time but the quality of the materials used for the construction was so poor that looks worn out and already showing wear and tear within one year of its completion,” the federation said.
The federation added that due to the already deteriorating condition of the road, local residents and commuters of the road including school going students were facing a lot of problems which, it said, was a clear deprivation of the right to access to good roads, as provided in article 21 of the constitution.
Pointing out that the road is of utmost importance not only to the local people of the area but also links many other villages, the federation urged the deputy commissioner pull up the company concerned and take necessary steps for the restoration of the road.
