Shillong, July 7: Madhya Pradesh government officials announced that they have sanctioned Rs 6.50 lakh for the tribal labourer who was subjected to an act of humiliation by being urinated upon. Out of the total amount, Rs 1.50 lakh has been allocated for the construction of a house for the victim’s family.

The announcement came shortly after Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan personally interacted with the victim, Dashmat Rawat, in Bhopal. Chouhan washed Rawat’s feet, had breakfast with him, and even planted a sapling as a gesture of apology for the inhuman act committed by Pravesh Shukla, who is reportedly associated with the BJP.

Sidhi collector Saket Maliya took to Twitter to inform that, as per the CM’s instructions, an assistance of Rs 5 lakh has been sanctioned to Dashmat Rawat, along with an additional Rs 1 lakh 50 thousand for the construction of a house. Dashmat, a resident of Kubri village in Sidhi district, works as a labourer at a local mandi.

The incident gained widespread attention after a video went viral, showing Pravesh Shukla, associated with local BJP MLA Kedarnath Shukla, urinating on Rawat’s face. Pravesh Shukla has been imprisoned in Rewa’s central jail on serious charges, including the National Security Act (NSA).

In a separate development, Pravesh Shukla’s family home was demolished by the administration on the grounds of being illegal. However, Shukla’s family has raised questions about the government’s decision, as they were left without shelter or support. The family has been relying on the kindness of neighbors for meals and is currently surviving in makeshift arrangements amid the rain.

Shukla’s wife explained that the house was built by her grandmother and they were given a short notice to vacate it. The family believes that such actions are not representative of a democratic society.
