SHILLONG: Police have questioned a former HNLC member Marcus Tonglieh for posting inflammatory words against a Judge of Meghalaya High Court, SR Sen and one advocate on a social networking site, Facebook.

Acting on information received on Friday, police lodged a complaint with the Sadar Police Station, informed East Khasi Hills SP (City) Vivek Syiem.

Accordingly, police summoned Tonglieh for questioning. When asked about the reason behind the volatile comments made by Tonglieh, Syiem said “The matter is still under investigation.”

Ruing the increase in cases where social media, like Facebook, have been used as a platform to spread hate comments in public domain, Syiem said there have been several cases where pictures of a person have been morphed using Photoshop besides posting hostile and threatening comments.

“There is nothing wrong in using Facebook but users are bound by a certain sense of duty which wouldn’t cause injury or harm to another person,” Syiem said.
