Jowai, July 22: The Jaintia National Council (JNC) on Saturday demanded the state government that a mini secretariat should be set up in Jowai as planned in Tura.
They reminded Chief Minister Conrad Sangma that the foundation stone for a mini secretariat in Jowai was laid in December last with no trace about the project till now. Is this only for election purpose? Questions JNC. The reminder came after the chief minister recently made a statement that a mini secretariat would be set up in Tura.
Pointing out Jaintia Hills is the highest revenue generator; however the region remains to be neglected, which means that, ‘till now the government only takes not give’. The council pointed out the Iawmusiang building complex which was conceptualized in 2006 is yet to see the light of day.
The council stressed that Jaintia Hills needs development while stating that the government should fulfill all promises it made. ‘Stop manipulating the people immediately’, the JNC said.
