Training prog for farmers
SHILLONG, July 27: In a bid to improve the livelihood of hill farmers a three-day training programme was organised by Division of Animal and Fishery Sciences, ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Umiam, Meghalaya at Borkhatsari village Umling block, Ri Bhoi. The programme was organised under the Biotech Based Programme for Societal Development funded by Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India.The main objective of the programme was to promote livestock based integrated cluster farming as income generating avenues throughout the year. The system will help poor small farmers, who have very small land holding for crop production and a few heads of livestock to diversify farm production. Inputs in the form of veterinary medicines, vermibeds, extension folders were distributed among the 60 beneficiaries, who took part in the programme.The programme was organised by Senior Scientist of the project, Meena Das.
Schools celebrate NEP’s 3rd anniv
KHLIEHRIAT/SHILLONG, July 27: JNV Rymbai in East Jaintia Hills, Meghalaya, on Thursday, held a press conference, as part of the celebration of the third year of National Education Policy 2020. Principal IC, Indra Kumar Das, explained the motive of formation of NEP and its positive implications to the students. A press conference was also organised by Kendriya Vidyalaya Umroi Cantt on the occasion. Their Principal, SKL Varnwall, underscored the ways and means of the implementation of NEP 2020 in Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangthan. He highlighted a few path breaking steps taken by KVS to align with the vision of NEP 2020.
Gram Sevak workshop held in GH
TURA, July 27: A one-day workshop for transformation of Sevak and Sevikas for Garo Hills region was held at Asananggre under Rongram Community and Rural Development Block, West Garo Hills district on Wednesday. Addressing the gathering, the principal secretary, C&RD Department, Sampath Kumar, IAS said, “This is the first government employees’ association which has urged for capacity building training & workshops for bringing about transformation in the development sector”. He stated that the Gram Sevaks are one of the most trusted institutions at the grassroots level, where they represent the state at the village level.An online survey was conducted during the workshop, to understand the current role and responsibilities of the Gram Sevaks and enable the respective departments to prepare a roadmap to strengthen the Gram Sevak institution.
