Shillong, August 4: In Haryana’s Nuh district, law enforcement agencies took down more than 200 shanties occupied by “illegal” immigrants allegedly connected to the violent clashes on July 31. These shanties were illegally constructed on land owned by the Haryana Shahari Vikas Pradhikaran (HSVP) in Tauru area over the past four years and were reportedly inhabited by Bangladeshi immigrants.

As per IANS, the demolition operation was conducted by district authorities with strong police support. During their investigation into the clashes, the police analyzed CCTV footage and videos, leading them to identify the houses from where most of the stone pelting originated. Several similar demolition drives are planned for over 50 other locations in Nuh.

A senior police officer stated that relevant agencies carried out the demolition with police backing, and further investigations are ongoing. SP Nuh Narender Birjaniya emphasized that the illegal structures could not be allowed to disrupt law and order, and those involved in the riots will be apprehended soon.

In addition to the demolitions, the police conducted combing exercises in Mewli, Shikarpur, Jalalpur, and Shingar villages. The clashes initially broke out when the Brij Mandal Yatra, organized by the VHP, was attacked on July 31, resulting in vehicle fires.

Since the incidents, 55 FIRs have been registered, and 141 individuals have been arrested in Nuh. As of Thursday, the overall situation in Nuh and Gurugram has remained calm.

To further aid the investigation, a special cyber crime team collected footage from CCTV cameras installed along the Yatra route.
