SHILLONG, Aug 4: Home Minister Prestone Tynsong has cracked the whip on a Twitter group called Legal Rights Observatory for allegedly posting comments on Twitter (now ‘X’) with regard to the assault incident in Mahadev Khola Dham which could lead to religious conflicts in the state capital.
Tynsong has directed the state police to track down the members of the Twitter group.
Tynsong on Friday said that the incident at Mahadev Khola was a small misunderstanding, and it had no connections with any religion. “However, in social media, the LRO made some comments. I have given instructions to the police to track these people,” he said.
Stating that the Twitter handle operators could not be residents of India, he said, “If they are, they cannot make such an irresponsible statement. It may lead to ethnic clashes and even religious conflicts,” Tynsong said.
It may be mentioned that he Khasi Students’ Union (KSU) has filed an FIR against the Twitter account after it accused the KSU of being responsible for the attack at Mahadev Khola.
