Shillong, August 6: The encounter between terrorists and security forces in the Khawas area of Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district has entered its second day, with one terrorist confirmed killed so far. The operation, launched on Saturday by Rashtriya Rifles of the Indian Army and Jammu & Kashmir Police based on accurate intelligence, has led to the forces closing in on a group of two to three terrorists.

As per IANS, the challenging terrain, characterized by undulating forests, has required additional mobilization of troops from Rashtriya Rifles. To strengthen the operation, Special Forces were deployed via Indian Air Force helicopters. Throughout the night, controlled fire from the forces has effectively thwarted repeated attempts by the terrorists to break the cordon.

The security forces have employed advanced technology in the operation, utilizing night-enabled quadcopters, unmanned aerial vehicles, and sniffer dogs to aid their efforts.

While one terrorist has been confirmed killed, the firefight continues as the troops close in on the remaining terrorists. The search operation is ongoing, with the aim of neutralizing any remaining threats.
