The unpredictable weather

Being a meteorologist in Shillong could be a hazardous thing these days. Meteorologists have the job of predicting changes in weather, and making a forecast for the coming days but in the case of Shillong, an accurate forecast more often than not becomes difficult, thanks to the unpredictability of the weather pattern in the city.
Consider last week’s weather. We witnessed extreme heat, rain, receding mercury levels at night, all mixed together.
We had some days where the Sun and the Rain Gods played hide-and-seek with us.
Shillongites were greeted in the morning by a downpour and within a few minutes the skies above us cleared and the temperatures soared. Just moments later, the rain came pouring down and was substituted by another spell of clear weather.
Womenfolk had a busy time handing clothes to dry, removing them quickly due to the rain and cursing their luck again as the sun beat down only minutes later.
A perfect example of the vagaries of nature!
