SHILLONG: State Award winner Reeta Ghosh, vice principal, Laban Bengali Boys’ Higher Secondary School said that education was one of the major instruments for social change. Ghosh, who received the district level teachers award last year said, “I am very happy and honored that my service has been recognized by the government,” after receiving the award.

Ghosh, who is also the district resource person and district level teachers trainer under CCRT (Centre for Cultural Research and Training), however rued the education scenario in the State.

“The education scenario is lacking behind comparing to the national scenario and the main reason is that primary education must be given more importance to strengthen the foundation,” she said while adding vocational training was the need of the hour to make classroom education more interesting.
