SHILLONG, Aug 7: BJP state president Ernest Mawrie on Monday said the party’s disciplinary committee will take a call on the need to seek a clarification from party spokesperson HM Shangpliang over his reported move to join the NPP.
“The matter was discussed by the disciplinary committee after a section of the media reported about Shangpliang’s move to join the NPP. The committee will decide. We cannot just issue a show cause notice without the advice of the committee,” Mawrie said.
Mawrie said Shangpliang has neither communicated with the party nor reacted to the media reports.
“Going by the media reports it appears that Shangpliang may join the NPP with an eye on the Lok Sabha polls due next year,” Mawrie said.
The BJP state chief also admitted that Shangpliang did not attend two programmes organised by the party citing that he was pre-occupied with the meetings of the Education Department.
