Guwahati, August 8: Assam TMC leader Ripun Bora on Tuesday remarked that the no-trust vote against the Narendra Modi government by the Opposition alliance, INDIA, was necessary as “Prime Minister Narendra Modi has remained silent on the Manipur conflict.”

Speaking to mediapersons on the conflict in Manipur during a demonstration by the party against rising prices of essential items here on Tuesday, Bora stated that the no confidence motion would break Prime Minister Modi’s silence and make him speak on the Manipur violence.

Notably, speaking in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday, Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi had said that the Opposition alliance had brought the no-trust motion for Manipur to end Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “silence” on the Manipur issue.

“We have three questions for him – Why did he (PM) not visit Manipur to date? Why did it take almost 80 days to finally speak on Manipur and when he did speak it was just for 30 seconds? Why has the PM not sacked the Manipur CM so far?” Gogoi had stated, setting off a debate in the Lok Sabha.

“We are compelled to bring the no-confidence motion. This was never about numbers but about justice for Manipur. I move the motion that this House expresses no confidence in the government. INDIA has brought this motion for Manipur. Manipur wants justice,” the Congress leader said.
