State to move Centre for addl forces

SHILLONG: The State Government has decided to pitch for additional forces from the Centre to ensure law and order besides regulation of traffic along the highway.

The decision to this effect was taken at a meeting held here between the Home minister and other officials to discuss the overall law and order situation.

Later, principal Secretary (Home) KS Kropha said, “We will request the Centre to send additional forces especially to regulate traffic since the National Highway, which is a connecting link with other states, get affected during the agitations.”

The meeting also discussed prevailing law and order situation besides measures that need to be taken to ensure peace and tranquility in the State.

The meeting also tried to identify the areas where security needs to be further augmented.
