Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM) begins with star-studded inauguration

Shillong, August 11: The 14th edition of the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM) commenced with a star-studded inauguration, featuring prominent figures from the Indian film industry.

IANS reported that Karan Johar, Kartik Aaryan, Mrunal Thakur, and Vijay Varma were seen inaugurating the festival alongside directors Anurag Kashyap, Vikramaditya Motwane, Kanu Behl, and Prithivi Konanur.

Expressing his gratitude, Karan Johar remarked, “This is my third time at IFFM, and I’m so grateful for the warmth and grace of the festival and everyone involved. I’m joined by many fellow members of the Indian film fraternity, and I’m honored to be amongst such impeccable talent.”

Kartik Aaryan, in awe of the Indian community’s love and support in Australia, shared, “I’m overwhelmed to be in Australia and thankful to Mitu and IFFM for inviting me here. The love from the Indian community has been both surprising and overwhelming.”

Mrunal Thakur reminisced about her past experiences with IFFM, mentioning the festival’s role in connecting her with opportunities and industry professionals.

The Founder and Director of IFFM, Mitu Bhowmik Lange, expressed her enthusiasm for the event, highlighting its role in promoting cultural exchange and appreciation of cinema. Supported by the Victorian Government and Indian film enthusiasts, IFFM has established itself as a global platform for celebrating the magic of Indian storytelling.
