Shillong, August 17: The Indian Coast Guard accomplished a successful medical evacuation operation in the Arabian Sea, as reported by the Ministry of Defence on Thursday.

As per IANS, officials from the Indian Coast Guard carefully assessed the most suitable options for a swift evacuation and subsequent medical care. The patient, a Chinese national, was swiftly airlifted by CG ALH MK-III helicopter and promptly administered first aid. Subsequently, the patient was transferred to the vessel’s medical personnel for further treatment.

The rescue operation took place on the night of August 16-17, approximately 200 kilometers off the coast of Mumbai in the Arabian Sea. The individual in need, Yin Weigyang, was aboard the Panama-flagged research vessel MV Dong Fang Kan Tan No 2. Despite challenging weather conditions and darkness, the rescue team successfully carried out the evacuation.

The Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre in Mumbai received an urgent medical distress call due to Yin Weigyang suffering a cardiac attack while the vessel was en route from China to the UAE. Swift communication was established with the vessel, and necessary telemedicine advice was provided by the Indian Coast Guard.

The efficient actions of CG ALH and CGAS Daman during the operation’s challenging circumstances exemplify the Indian Coast Guard’s dedication to their motto ‘We Protect.’
