Shillong, August 17: Justice Pankaj Bhatia of the Allahabad High Court has denied bail to Inamul Haq, the administrator of a WhatsApp group accused of disseminating jihadi literature.

As per IANS, an FIR was filed against Haq at Deoband police station in Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh, under IPC Sections 121-A (waging war against the Government of India) and 153-A (promoting enmity between religious groups).

The WhatsApp group reportedly comprised 181 members, including 170 from Pakistan, three from Afghanistan, and one each from Malaysia, Bangladesh, and India. Inamul Haq allegedly admitted his affiliation with the Lashkar group.

The court’s observation on Wednesday stated, “The applicant managed two WhatsApp groups primarily composed of foreign nationals, which purportedly advocated the acquisition of weapons and propagated religious biases.”
