Shillong, August 20: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi emphasized that China has encroached on local territory during his trip to Ladakh.

He stated, “The issue here is that China has indeed taken over the land. People have reported the Chinese military’s presence in the region, leading to the confiscation of their grazing grounds. Despite the Prime Minister’s assertion that no land has been seized, this is untrue. You can confirm this with anyone here”.

As per India Today, tensions between India and China persist in eastern Ladakh, with an ongoing border standoff spanning three years. The relationship between the two nations deteriorated following a fatal clash in the Galwan Valley in June 2020. Rahul Gandhi also expressed the dissatisfaction of Ladakh’s residents with their current status.

“There have been numerous grievances from the people of Ladakh. They are dissatisfied with their current designation and seek representation. Unemployment is a pressing issue. The consensus is that governance should not solely rest with the bureaucracy but should incorporate the voice of the people,” Rahul Gandhi stated during his Ladakh visit.

Additionally, during his Ladakh trip, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi made a noteworthy gesture by riding a motorcycle to Pangong Lake. In commemoration of his father and former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi’s birth anniversary, Congress MP Rahul Gandhi paid his respects from the shores of Pangong Tso in Ladakh.

Ahead of the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council-Kargil (LAHDC-Kargil) elections, Rahul Gandhi, the MP for Wayanad, ventured to Pangong Lake as part of his visit to Ladakh. He documented his motorcycle excursion to Ladakh on Instagram, sharing ten captivating photographs.
