Shillong, August 22: Elon Musk extended an invitation to journalists to publish directly on X (formerly Twitter), promising higher earnings. As part of this initiative, he introduced changes to the display of news articles shared on the platform.
As per IANS, on X, news article posts were streamlined to include solely the lead image and the URL, with the headline and text removed. Links presented only the lead image, serving as a link to the article. Musk emphasized that these alterations were directly from him and aimed to enhance the platform’s aesthetics.
In response to the call for direct publishing, one follower urged for improved tools. Simultaneously, Musk advocated for X to develop a news article format that exclusively showcased a lead image and the source URL. The intention behind this shift appears to be to condense post height, enabling users’ timelines to exhibit more content.
While some users appreciated the move for aesthetics, others expressed concern about the impact on user experience. Noting Musk’s history of introducing beneficial changes, one follower remained skeptical about this particular alteration’s viability.
