NONGSTOIN, Aug 24: The Hynniewtrep Youth Council (HYC), West Khasi Hills District met with the Deputy Commissioner on Thursday to seek a clarification on the recruitment process for the post of Technical Assistant in the District Rural Development Agency (DRDA), which saw a twist.
According to HYC president Lumlang Kharsyiemlieh, out of the 58 applicants for the post, seven were selected for personal interview by the screening committee and the names of the selected candidates were displayed on March 16, 2023.However, on July 6, another notice was issued stating that there would be a written examination for the selected candidates instead of a personal interview.
The exam was held on July 19, 2023.
Kharsyiemlieh claimed that apart from the seven selected candidates, there were others who came for the written examination. On August 1, three candidates were selected for the final personal interview, including one of the extra candidates.
The Deputy Commissioner told the HYC that the cancellation of the direct personal interview and the notice to instruct the candidates to take the written examination was due to the requirement of a one-third ratio in the post. He said that the written examination was conducted to ensure that all candidates had an equal opportunity to be selected.
Regarding the extra candidates who appeared for the written examination, the DC said that he would have to investigate the matter first and assured the HYC that he will issue a clarification soon.
