Shillong, August 27: New research led by Indian-origin health expert Sumeet Chugh at the Smidt Heart Institute in Los Angeles has highlighted distinctive gender-specific symptoms preceding sudden cardiac arrest.
As per IANS, for women, shortness of breath emerged as the primary indicator, while men often experienced chest pain. The study, published in Lancet Digital Health, involved analyzing community-based data from established studies led by Chugh.
Approximately 50% of individuals encountered warning signs before cardiac arrest. The findings could pave the way for innovative strategies in early intervention and prevention, potentially reshaping approaches to sudden cardiac death prevention.
