SHILLONG, Aug 27: The condition of some of the roads in the city does not complement the aspirations of the state government to turn Shillong into a smart city in the future
Apart from the main roads passing through the city, the road condition in the city is degrading gradually while the government and the PWD (Roads) seem to not bat an eye.
An example of one such road is the one connecting Lower Lachumiere with Dhankheti, which is marred with potholes.
Although main roads are largely free from extensive wear and tear, some stretches have however developed damages.
It may be mentioned that even the High Court of Meghalaya had admonished the government over the deteriorating condition of roads. The curt had said that heavy rainfall cannot be made an excuse for the poor road condition in the state.
