Eminent journalist S G Kashyap appointed Chancellor Nagaland University

Guwahati, August 29: The President of India has appointed eminent journalist, author and former State Information Commissioner of Assam Dr Samudra Gupta Kashyap as Chancellor of Nagaland University.

A notification issued by the Registrar of Nagaland University today said the President of India in her capacity as Visitor of the University has appointed Dr Kashyap for a period of five years. The appointment by the President was communicated to Nagaland University by the Ministry of Education, Department of Higher Education, Government of India.

Dr Kashyap has been associated with several academic and educational institutions including Indian Institute of Mass Communication, Indian Institute of Democratic Leadership, OKD Institute of Social Change and Development, Centre for South-East Asian Studies (Gauhati University), JB College, to name a few.

A bi-lingual writer, Dr Kashyap author and co-author of over twenty books in English and Assamese, was till recently State Information Commissioner in Assam. A Masters in English from Cotton College (Gauhati University), and a distinguished alumnus of Indian Institute of Mass Communication (New Delhi), Dr Kashyap had remained a journalist for close to four decades.
