Four injured in fresh firing in Muzaffarnagar

Muzaffarnagar: The peace efforts in riot-hit Muzaffarnagar district in Uttar Pradesh on Saturday suffered a jolt following a firing incident in rural area of Fugana village in which at least four people were injured.

The incident took place at the time when the district authorities relaxed the curfew in three police station areas of the city for 12 hours today. The additional force was rushed to the affected area and the security was further scaled up in the rural areas of the district.

According to police sources, some armed persons of Loi village attacked some villagers of Fugana village who had gone to collect fodder for their cattle. The assailants managed to flee after the firing.

Villagers — Surendra and Mange Ram, who suffered bullet injuries were referred to Meerut Medical College, while another injured Anil was taken to a hospital in adjoining Shamli district, sources added. (PTI)
