SHILLONG, Sep 7: At a time when the debate over the implementation of the NEP continues, Adviser to the Education Department HM Shangpliang on Thursday said 95 per cent of the colleges in the state have welcomed the new policy.
Requesting those against the NEP to stop playing with the future of the students, he said NEP will enable the youth of the state to avail education that would be at par with the rest of the country.
Pointing out that the graduate course under the NEP is four years, he said that if the old course continues, the students will not get admission into postgraduate courses since these students will have to repeat the course for one more year before seeking admission.
He said such a move will be a setback for the youth.
Acknowledging that challenges are inherent while implementing any new policy, he said that the government is willing to provide all that is required in terms of infrastructure and manpower to ensure successful implementation of the NEP.
