Shillong, September 11: WhatsApp, a Meta-owned messaging platform, is reportedly working on a new “filter groups chat” feature for Android users. This feature aims to enhance user control over their conversations, simplifying message management and prioritization.

According to WABetaInfo, this upcoming feature will enable users to view a list of their groups while excluding individual chats. Additionally, to improve clarity, the “Personal” filter will be renamed to “Contacts,” helping users distinguish between individual and group chats. The newly named “Contacts” filter will exclusively display individual conversations, while the “Business” filter will be removed.

Given that users often participate in multiple groups for various purposes, such as work, family, friends, or hobbies, this dedicated filter will facilitate quick access and management of group conversations. Users can rest assured that this filter solely includes group chats.

It’s important to note that the feature for filtering group chats is still in development and will be included in a future app update.

Meanwhile, WhatsApp is reportedly introducing a multi-account feature to beta testers on Android. This feature will enable users to add an additional account on the same device directly within WhatsApp Settings. Additionally, a redesigned settings interface will offer a more modern and user-friendly experience when navigating the app’s various options. The update also includes a redesigned profile tab within the chat list, streamlining access to the app’s settings.
