TURA, Sep 11: Despite an urgent order being issued by the Director of School Education and Literacy (DSEL) in Shillong, to rectify the illegal appointment of a teacher at the Gasbari Non-Government LP School in Dadenggre and to re-advertise for the vacant post, action apparently is yet to be forthcoming with the said teacher reportedly still being seen attending his classes at the school.

The complaint was earlier filed against the illegal appointment of one, Karimul Islam by President of the Garo Hills Youth Organization (GHYO) and Advocate, Nazmul Hashan. Following the complaint, an order with the tag ‘Top Most Urgent’ was issued by DSEL, Swapnil Tembe on July 19, directing the SDSEO to immediately instruct the said school’s SMC to re-advertise for the post and select an MTET qualified candidate.

However, as per the claims of Hashan on Monday, the alleged illegal appointee, Karimul Islam has continued to attend his work at the school to this day.

“Karimul Islam is still attending the school and as to who is allowing him to teach in the said school, whether it is the Head Teacher Shohidur Rohman or any other authority concerned, is unclear. Islam is appointed illegally violating the norms/orders/ regulations/notification of the Department/Government concerned and thereupon legal action would be sought as per the law if he continues to teach in the said school. The Head Teacher or Authorities or the School Managing Committee (SMC) or Cluster Resource Person (CRC) concerned will be held liable in the eye of law for disobeying the Government’s order and notification,” Hashan said, while demanding necessary action from authorities in this regard.
