TURA, Sep 12: The Meghalaya Samachik Association on Tuesday met the Secretary of the GHADC and submitted a memorandum seeking the speedy processing of its demand for passing the GHADC (Protection and Promotion of Garo Traditional Medicine) Rules, Bill 2019.

The association has been demanding the passing of the said bill since 2012. The draft bill to be forwarded to the Commissioner and Secretary to the Government of Meghalaya was also submitted to the GHADC in 2019.

Following the forwarding of the Draft Bill by the GHADC to Deputy Secretary, W Rapthat, the same was returned after proper examination, to the GHADC for rectification and necessary correction before re-submission.

“We have repeatedly approached the General Administration Department with our queries on the matter. But we were always told that the file is missing from the office. The Meghalaya Government returned the bill after four months but since then, it has been kept pending in the GHADC,” the association said, in its memorandum.

The association in the memorandum requested that necessary action be taken immediately with regard to the matter and the same re-submitted after necessary correction if any, to the concerned department to ensure its speedy passing.
