Shillong, September 15: Tech giant Apple announced its plans to release a software patch for iPhone 12 users in France following concerns raised by the country’s radiation watchdog, ANFR.

The watchdog had publicly stated that the iPhone 12 was exceeding radiation exposure limits and requested that Apple temporarily halt sales and provide a solution.

As per IANS, in response, Apple issued a statement, saying, “We will issue a software update for users in France to accommodate the protocol used by French regulators. We look forward to iPhone 12 continuing to be available in France.” The company clarified that the software patch was specifically related to a testing protocol utilized by French regulators and not a safety issue.

Apple, based in Cupertino, California, previously stated that the iPhone 12 had received certification from multiple international regulators for compliance. The French government welcomed this decision, with the ANFR preparing to swiftly test the update.

Apple, which recently launched the iPhone 15 series, emphasized its adherence to Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) standards worldwide, including the common EU SAR limit of 2 W/kg and the FCC limit in the U.S. of 1.6 W/kg, both of which it complies with, according to reports by TechCrunch.
