Charred body of terrorist recovered in ongoing Anantnag encounter: Report

Shillong, September 18: In the midst of an ongoing six-day encounter and search operation in Anantnag, Jammu and Kashmir, security forces have retrieved the charred body of a terrorist, a report in India Today stated.

The clothing found on the body has led security personnel to believe it belongs to one of the terrorists involved.

On Monday morning, the search operation recommenced in the area, with efforts concentrated on locating the bodies of a soldier and another terrorist, both of which were identified via drone in a separate location.

While the encounter between security forces and terrorists had intensified on Sunday, the fifth day of the operation, there have been no reports of fresh gunfire on Monday.

The Anantnag operation has witnessed the deployment of advanced surveillance equipment and precision firepower by security forces. According to security reports, the precision fire tactics employed have had a significant impact on the operation.

The encounter in Anantnag has sadly resulted in the loss of three security officers: Colonel Manpreet Singh, Commanding Officer of 19 Rashtriya Rifles, Major Ashish Dhonchak, and soldier Humayun Bhat, who were killed by the terrorists on Wednesday.
