Ceasework in St Mary’s College

SHILLONG: The sanctioned teachers’ of St. Mary’s College went on cease work on Thursday protesting the non-disbursement of their salaries.

According to sources, only 50 per cent of the salary was distributed to the teachers for the month of August and the State Government has refrained from disbursing the full salary in the wake of the façade surrounding the Principal of the College.

According to sources, the Principal of St. Mary’s College, Sr Isabella Kyrsiah was forcibly removed from her post by Sr Mary Harriet, who claimed to have been appointed to the post by the management comprising of Sisters.

Since the appointment of Sr Harriet was not approved by the State Government, the salary of the teachers was not disbursed in totality.

Staff sources have informed that a resolution was taken on Thursday to prolong the cease work till further notice.
