Minister to introduce public complaint box system

ITANAGAR: In order to control alleged practice of taking money by on-duty police personnel, the Arunachal Pradesh government would install public complaints box in the state.

State Home Minister Takar Marde today said a public complaints box would be set up in front of his official residence here to facilitate lodging of complaints by the public and ensure prompt action.

The latest initiative came following reports of sudden spurt in alleged cases of collection of money by on-duty police personnel from private transporters and even from vegetable vendors.

Taking serious note of such cases, Mr Marde, who had a meeting with the business communities here on July 21, said there were growing numbers of complaints that the police personnel in uniform and even in civil dress, collecting money from private trucks, buses, liquor shops and even from vegetable vendors.””In order to curb such practices, it has been decided to install a complaint box where public complaints could be dropped,” he informed adding,” Stern action would be initiated against guilty police personnel.”

The Minister maintained that not only complaints regarding corrupt police personnel, but also cases relating to law and order problem would be acknowledged. (UNI)
