Shillong, September 22: During the Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU) polls at Lakshmibai College, the National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) claimed fake voting took place, implicating the college administration in the irregularities. NSUI accused the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) of manipulating the university.

As per IANS, NSUI Delhi in-charge Nitish Gaur alleged that the university administration exerted pressure on voters to support the opposing group. In response, ABVP dismissed these claims as falsehoods, emphasizing that students were voting voluntarily and with enthusiasm.

ABVP’s Aparajita, a candidate for the Secretary position, appealed to Delhi University students, particularly female students, to vote for ABVP, citing their advocacy for women’s rights and empowerment. The North Campus of Delhi University was adorned with election colors, and security measures, including drone surveillance and provisions for students, were observed during the voting process.

A total of 24 candidates contested for four positions, with voting taking place in the morning and evening colleges. These DUSU elections marked a return after a three-year hiatus due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The last DUSU elections occurred in 2019-20.
