KHADC EC tables bill to revise trading licence fees

SHILLONG, Sep 21: The KHADC Executive Committee on Friday introduced the Khasi Hills Autonomous District (Trading by Non-Tribals) (Amendment) Rules, 2023, on the first day of the two-day special session of the Council on Friday.
Executive Member (EM) in-charge Trade, Gigur Myrthong tabled the Khasi Hills Autonomous District (Trading by Non-Tribals) (Amendment) Rules, 2023.
Speaking to reporters, KHADC CEM Pyniaid Sing Syiem said that the amendment rule was introduced since the fee structure of the trading licences has remained the same for several years.
He pointed out that the trading licence fee is the same for a tea stall trader and a cement factory owner.
According to him, there is move to fix a slab on the fees of trading licences as per their annual turnover.
