SHILLONG: The Joint Action Committee of All Teachers’ Associations of Meghalaya (JACATAM) has temporarily suspended its agitation after Chief Minster Dr Mukul Sangma directed the State Chief Secretary to hold a meeting with the agitating teachers.

Informing this here on Saturday, JACATAM chairman ED Nongsiang said the decision to temporarily suspend agitation was taken in a meeting of the committee held here on Saturday.

A delegation of JACATAM will meet Chief Secretary WMS Pariat on September 30 in presence of other officials from the Education department to discuss their various issues.

It may be recalled that after failing to get any ‘positive response’ from Education Minister Prof RC Laloo JACATAM had set September 23 deadline for the Chief Minister to break the deadlock.
