Shillong, October 1: Apple has acknowledged certain conditions that can lead to new iPhones running warmer than expected. These include a bug found in the iOS 17 software update and specific third-party apps like Instagram.
According to Apple, during the initial days after setting up or restoring a device, it might feel warmer due to increased background activity.
As per IANS, the company stated, “We have also found a bug in iOS 17 that is impacting some users and will be addressed in a software update.”
Apple’s new iPhone 15 Pro, featuring titanium material and an aluminum substructure, has improved heat dissipation compared to previous stainless steel Pro models. This design ensures that the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max do not overheat.
Apple clarified that some third-party app updates are causing the system to become overloaded and, consequently, causing the iPhone to run warmer than usual. Apps such as Asphalt 9, Instagram, and Uber are among those identified.
The tech giant is actively collaborating with app developers to rectify these issues with fixes already rolling out. Instagram, for instance, issued a fix on September 27 (v302).
However, it’s important to note that the bug fix in iOS 17 does not involve reducing performance to address iPhone temperature.
Apple explained that iPhones may feel warmer during activities such as initial setup, backup restoration, wireless charging, usage of graphics-intensive or processor-intensive apps, games, augmented-reality apps, or streaming high-quality videos. These conditions are normal, and the device will return to its regular temperature once the process or activity is complete.
Users who employ a larger USB-C power adapter (20W+) can expect a temporary increase in iPhone temperature during fast charging. This temperature increase, while using a compliant USB-C PD (Power Delivery) adapter, does not affect the long-term performance of the iPhone and poses no safety or injury risk.
