J&K police seize 30 kg of cocaine worth Rs 300 crore; narco-terror module busted

Shillong, October 1: In a continued effort to combat the drug menace, Jammu and Kashmir police intercepted a vehicle at Railway Chowk, Banihal, in Ramban district, as it traveled from Kashmir to Jammu.

Officials reported the seizure of approximately 30 kg of cocaine, with an estimated international market value of Rs 300 crore. Two individuals were apprehended in connection with the operation.

As per IANS, this successful operation was initiated based on intelligence gathered by SSP Ramban and her dedicated team, who have been relentlessly fighting against drug smugglers and peddlers. The Ramban police have already taken action against numerous notorious peddlers and smugglers.

In 2022, a total of 104 cases were registered, and in 2023, up to the present date, 36 cases have been filed. These cases have resulted in the recovery of 2,500 kg of poppy straw, 30 kg of cocaine, 10 kg of charas, 200 grams of heroin, and 200 tablets. Law enforcement has arrested 158 individuals and detained 33 under the Prevention of Illicit Trafficking in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (PIT NDPS) Act.
