NONGSTOIN, Oct 5: Unsatisfactory and shoddy work of the intermediate lane from Mawshynrut to Hahim has compelled a group to seek the intervention of the Chief Engineer PWD (Roads), into the matter and demanded removal of the contractor tasked with the project.
Ri Nongtrai Sport & Social Welfare Association (RNS&SWA), has submitted a memorandum to the chief engineer pointing out that the upgradation of the 37.646 km road from Mawshynrut to Hahim (Athiabari) was implemented by Bimal Kumar Agarwal and the work was not as per the Detailed Project Report (DPR).
President of the organisation D Diengngan said that during their inspection they found out that there were many items that the contractor has not executed adding that even working of stone masonry like retaining wall, parapet wall, guard wall, and face wall of hume pipe is in poor strength, and not plastered properly.
He further pointed out that construction of the face wall of home pipe is also not properly maintained, while the drainage and culvert are constructed without calculating the level of the flow of water.
Some culvert constructions were found half silting, he said.
Irked by the shoddy work, the association has demanded serious action against the contractor.
Meanwhile, the chief engineer has agreed to follow up the matter and assured that the department will intervene as early as possible.
