Shillong, October 6: Amazon India has announced the creation of more than 100,000 seasonal job opportunities within its operations network in preparation for the festive season.

As per IANS, these opportunities encompass both direct and indirect roles and are available in cities such as Mumbai, Delhi, Pune, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Lucknow, and Chennai, among others.

Akhil Saxena, Vice President Operations, APAC/MENA/LATAM, and WW Customer Service Head at Amazon, stated, “We are welcoming an additional workforce of over 100K to strengthen our fulfilment, delivery, and customer service capabilities and ensure a great shopping experience for millions of customers who are looking forward to shopping with us.”

In anticipation of Amazon’s ‘Great Indian Festival,’ which begins on October 8, with early access for Prime customers starting on October 7, Amazon India has already onboarded a significant portion of these new hires into its existing network. These individuals will be responsible for various tasks, including picking, packing, shipping, and delivering customer orders.

The new hires also comprise customer service associates, some of whom are part of the virtual customer service model. This model aims to enhance the customer experience as Amazon strengthens its presence across the country.

Amazon India operates fulfilment centres in 15 states, offering a total of 43 million cubic feet of storage space for seller inventory. This benefits more than 1.3 million sellers in the country. Additionally, the company has sortation centres in 19 states, along with a network of nearly 2,000 Amazon-operated and partner delivery stations.
