Imphal: Kuki Inpi, a Kuki organisation for Human Rights have appealed Prime Minister of India and President of Myanmar to stop the construction of fencing between India and Myanmar immediately.

While fencing, the natural boundary has been ignored forcing most of the Indian citizens being compelled to be Myanmar citizens.

The organisation contended that the fencing has become a ‘Berlin Wall’ for the villagers in the border areas.

Eleven political parties also had staged a protest here on Monday to demand halt of the fencing works as about 500 sq km of Manipur’s land will be lost.

They demanded that the Indain government should constitute a joint survey team with Myanmarese authorities.

People who know about Manipur and its territory should be involved in the survey, the protestors said.

According to L Ibomcha, MLA of NCP, a mass movement will be launched if the Indian government fails to act.

Even though the state is facing a crisis due to the border issue, no central leaders or authority has cared to visit the area, he added.

Sarat Salam of CPI(M) said the Indian government is least concerned about loss of Indian territory in Manipur area. (UNI)
