Shillong, Oct 10: A formidable team from Meghalaya is gearing up to make their mark on the national stage as they prepare to compete in the National Games Golf Championship to be held from November 5 to 9 at New Delhi.
With great pride and enthusiasm, these talented golfers are ready to represent their state in one of the country’s most prestigious golfing events.The Meghalaya golfing contingent comprises both men and women, each with their own set of skills and determination to bring glory to their state.
Here are the golfers who will be representing Meghalaya: Men’s Team: (Professional) Johnwell G Momin; (Amateur) Jonathan Iawphniaw. Women’s Team: (Professional) Daphisha Phanbuh Shullai; (Amateur) Teesta Rawat.This event has been eagerly awaited by golfing enthusiasts and sports aficionados across the nation. In the lead-up to the championship, rigorous selection trials were held at the beautiful Shillong Golf Course on two separate occasions. The professional golfers had their trials from September 28 to 29, 2023, while the amateur golfers competed on October 4 to 5, 2023.
These trials served as a crucible for both seasoned professionals and promising amateurs, where they showcased their skills and determination to secure a spot on the Meghalaya team.
The selection of these talented golfers underscores Meghalaya’s commitment to nurturing golfing talent and ensuring a strong presence on the national stage.
