Shillong ready to host 18 Degrees

Artists, performers in city to take part in art, culture & music fest

SHILLONG: Shillong is all set to add one more feather to its cap by hosting 18 Degrees – a multifaceted festival of art, culture, music etc., under the aegis of State Arts and Culture department from September 26 to 28. This festival will be organized at State Central Library Campus.

The event has been aptly named ’18 Degrees’ in reference to the average temperature of Shillong the whole year round.

Painters, cartoonist, artists, musicians, photographers, quiz master, etc., are all heading to Shillong to add to the city’s vibrant culture. Photography, Fashion, Quiz, Music, Motorcycle freestyle show, Bboying (Breaking), Graffiti, Cartoons, Art LIVE installations, crafts, scale modeling, musical workshops, creative writing ,interactive sessions with the students, teachers and parents and many more activities will take place in the three days of fun, festivity and intense competition.

Barry O` Brien, renowned Quizmaster, Makarand Deshpande, an eminent theatre personality, cartoonist Keshav, urban folk singer Susmit Bose, Kara Grainger, singer, songwriter and musician from Australia, Anoop Negi , an ace photographer and Swati Agarwal, fashion photographer, will be participating in the festival amongst a host of other artists.

There will be State-level (inter-district) competitions of folk song, folk dance, indigenous instruments, Quiz, painting, cartooning and creative writing, which will give the participants from all the districts, extensive exposure and experience.
