Jowai, Oct 21: In a gripping showdown that had fans on the edge of their seats, the “Chatister Kharkongor Memorial Trophy 1st Division Football Tournament – 2023,” hosted by the West Jaiñtia District Sports Association (WJDSA) at the Kiang Nangbah Stadium, Dongmihsngi Jowai, witnessed Wahiajer SC emerging victorious with a score of 3-2 against Sohmynting SC.
Wahiajer SC exhibited their prowess early in the game, securing a lead with a 3-2 scoreline. Janario Phawa showcased his skills in the 36th minute, skillfully finding the back of the net. Four minutes later, in the 40th minute, Ebormi Jat followed suit, extending Wahiajer’s lead.
The game’s climactic moment came during injury time when Niwan o Gatphoh’s remarkable goal in the 90+2nd minute sealed their triumph.
Sohmynting SC, however, refused to go down without a fight.
They secured two crucial goals, one through an unfortunate own goal by Marlangki Suting in the 70th minute.
Their persistence paid off as Auspicious Pamthied managed to net one in the 88th minute, thrilling the spectators.
Football enthusiasts eagerly anticipate another gripping match in this exhilarating tournament.
