BSF thwarts cattle smuggling bid

SHILLONG, Oct 22: Seema Prahari of 4 Bn BSF Meghalaya on Saturday successfully thwarted cattle smuggling attempts and rescued around 93 cattle heads (buffaloes) from the international border of West Jaintia Hills.
It was informed that the cattle were being smuggled to Bangladesh through the bordering area of West Jaintia Hills.
Acting on specific information, the BSF personnel conducted a special operation near the international border.
During the operation, they managed to seize 93 cattle, which had been concealed in a jungle area near the international border with the intention of smuggling them into Bangladesh.
The seized cattle were handed over to the concerned police station for further necessary action.
Distributes bicycles
to students in SGH

The 181 Battalion BSF Meghalaya distributed bicycles to school students of the border areas during a Civic Action Programme held at the border outpost in Dipulipara, South Garo Hills on Friday.
Around 35 bicycles were distributed at the programme organised as part of their effort to extend help to the people in the border areas.
The programme was attended by headmen and villagers of Dumnikura, Namchapara, Sibbari, Bangankona, Nilwagiri etc.
