Shillong, October 24: Hamas announced the release of two Israeli hostages held in Gaza for “humanitarian reasons” and shared a video of the captors providing food and water to the elderly women before their release.

Simultaneously, Israel’s military is gearing up for sustained efforts to dismantle Hamas as the conflict reached its 17th day on Tuesday.

As per India Today, Israeli Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Herzi Halevi emphasized that Israel had no intentions of reducing its airstrikes on the densely populated Gaza Strip and hinted at the possibility of a ground assault. “We aim to fully dismantle Hamas through unrelenting attacks, causing damage to Hamas in every possible way,” Halevi stated.

The Israel-Hamas war, now in its 17th day, has seen the death toll in Gaza exceed 5,000 due to two weeks of air strikes, as reported by the Palestinian health ministry. The total death toll thus far stands at 6,400.

Israel’s military is resolute in its stance, and this conflict continues to have serious humanitarian consequences for both sides.
