Shillong, Oct 27: Shillong Lajong FC is set to make a return to the I-League after a prolonged absence of half a decade. The club’s management has left no room for ambiguity, expressing their clear ambition to secure a top-three finish in the upcoming tournament and fervently striving for an elusive Indian Super League (ISL) slot.
The highly anticipated I-League competition, featuring 13 formidable teams, is poised to adopt a round-robin format.
These teams will fiercely compete against one another twice, once on their respective home turfs and once away.
Commencing from today, football fans can expect a riveting and action-packed season.
The stakes are high, with the ultimate victor of this league earning a promotion to the prestigious Hero Indian Super League, while the unfortunate team finishing at the bottom will face relegation to the second division league.
The upcoming 23-24 I-League season is all set to kick off in the enchanting landscape of Kashmir.
The opening match will be a northern-class showdown between the home team, Real Kashmir, and Rajasthan United. Following this exciting match, the former champions, Gokulam Kerala FC, will host the debutants, Inter Kashi, at 8:00 PM IST, promising another thrilling clash for fans.
